New Heroes is managed by Artistic Director Lucas De Man and Managing Director Wouter Goedheer.
Lucas De Man
Lucas De Man (Belgium, 1982) graduated from the KU Leuven with a degree in Germanic Languages in 2004. He immediately applied to the Amsterdam University of the Arts (NL) to become a Theatre Director and won the Matthijs Prize a young talent stipendium from Artemis and Young Talent Award from Theater aan Zee (BE) before graduating in 2008.
Lucas works as a (freelance) director, actor and concept developer. He presents several art shows on Dutch national television. He often hosts large and small events in the Netherlands and Belgium, lectures and teaches.
In 2011 Lucas and designer Pascal Leboucq were nominated for the renowned Wijnberg scenography award for their installation SKETCH.
Lucas was awarded the honorary title city artist of Den Bosch from 2012-2016. In 2016 the performance De Man in Europe was selected to open EUROPE BY PEOPLE, the cultural program of the Dutch presidency of the EU. It was shortlisted as Best Show of the 2015/2016 season by TheaterFestival in the Netherlands and Belgium. And Lucas himself was shortlisted as EuroDutchman of the year.
Wouter Goedheer (The Netherlands, 1984) graduated as a Production and Stage Manager from the Amsterdam University of the Arts in 2008. He has been working as a producer and financial manager ever since. For Company New Heroes he produced many different projects (theater performances, concerts, festivals and tours).
Wouter is also managing director for award winning international composer Merlijn Twaalfhoven and managing director for the ITS Festival (Theatre School Festival) in Amsterdam. He is an advisor for the Dutch Performing Arts Fund.
Core Members of New Heroes
Kimberly Major (1982, NL) studied Theater Studies and Dramaturgy at the University of Amsterdam. As dramaturge and project coordinator for New Heroes she works closely with Lucas and Pascal creating urban art installations such as EYE. She also develops New Heroes’ comprehensive international projects: IN SEARCH OF EUROPE (De Man in Europe) and HELLO ASIA. You can contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org
Bas van Rijnsoever (1983, NL) co-founded Company New Heroes and is on the board of directors. Bas graduated from the Amsterdam University of the Arts as actor specialized in Physical theatre (mime) in 2008. Besides acting for various international companies and collectives, he leads a music band and builds projects for New Heroes. He is now working on THE VILLAGE.
Pascal Leboucq (1981, BE) is a designer and scenographer. He was classically educated at the royal academy of fine arts in Antwerp and specialized in Public Space at the Design Academy in Eindhoven. Besides his own projects he works as a freelance scenographer for different theatre companies including Toneelgroep Amsterdam. At New Heroes Pascal creates urban art installations and cross-discipline scenographies.
Amber Bloos (1992, NL) studied Cultural Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. She began at Company New Heroes as an intern internationalization, during that period she wrote her thesis: ‘Why we need New Heroes now, Company New Heroes and their project “In Search of Europe” placed in the era of meta-modernism’. After the one year internship she was immediately offered a job as project-coördinator of De Man Is Lam. After leading her first project successfully, she now works at Company New Heroes as artistic coördinator. Also she will start her parttime master at the Erasmus University; ‘Art, Culture and Society’ in September.
Isil Vos (1986) graduated from ArtEZ theater school in Arnhem in 2008. Since then she has been working as an actress, theater maker, director, directing assistant and producer on various theater performances at Mighty Society, Theatergroep 42, Toneelgroep Oostpool, the Veenfabriek, the Zuidelijk Toneel and Company New Heroes. Isil constantly changes her roles within the theater. As a maker and teacher she creates and directs her own performances, which always deal with human defects and in which she always let actors play in the here and now. Her own productions play mainly at festivals, both in the Netherlands and abroad. As a directing assistant and project leader she either supports or leads artistic and production processes. For Company New Heroes she plays the performance SAM, which works within the context of her Artist in Residence at the Rabobank and she is project leader of the project around poverty.
