Jazz Orchestra bends is a concept from New Heroes and the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw.
The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw steps out of the comfort zone to make music with influences from a completely different angle together with different musicians.
Out of the 22 submissions for Jazz Orchestra is playing with yoU! we chose the band The Grenadeers, singer-songwriter Karlijn Langendijk, singer / dancer Ruben Sanchez, theater maker and musician Stephanie Smit and hip-hop producer Quincy Speelman.
A number of the members of the Jazz Orchestra plunged into the various studios with these young multi-talents to jam – literally and figuratively out or their comfort zone – and to work on big band arrangements with the pieces of the participants as a starting point. It was up to Rob Horsting to arrange the pieces for big band together with the participants.

The project concluded with two evenings on which the results of the various collaborations were presented. Friday January 11, 2019 in Podium Mozaiek & Saturday January 12, 2019 in Paradiso Noord.
